| & after having waited a time & and seen that no one took up his gauntlet, he did the same in two or three places in the hall & returned to the place where he had been at first, there peering to descry anyone that might contradict him, & no one coming forward, he bowed to her majesty, showing all that he rejoiced in her, who took and filled a cup of gold with wine, drank to him & presented him the cup, the which, departing, he carried in his hand. & the banquet being ended, her majesty called to her the ambassadors, & with very honest words conversed with them, & thanking them for their pains, gave them license, & she rose from the table and retired. |
